You ask yourself, “Do I have one? Did everybody else get one and I didn’t? Is purpose simply something I like to do? How do I know that I am being led to something? I’m confused!”
Well, let me try to clear this up as much as I am able. My Pastor recently said, “you were created with a particular purpose in mind, not the other way around. God didn’t create you then say, I’ll find something for you to do, no God needed something done so He created you to do it.” That’s awesome! To know that God needed something done so He created you to do it for Him! Tell me that is not awesome! Incredible! Amazing!
Well, I have always wanted to help people achieve their dreams, it made me so happy to see the smile on their faces when the dream came true. See, I honestly believe that happy people just want to be happy, to be around happiness, to spread happiness, to cultivate happiness everywhere they go and I have always tried to do just that.
I have been coaching or mentoring ever since I can remember.
Even as a little kid, I was doing some kind of coaching, I just didn’t call it that, I was just being me. So one day I was approached about becoming a Life Coach. I was vaguely familiar with the term but I thought okay, why not? So I went out and got Certified and started Hope Rising Consulting. Now, in the midst of all of this, I just happened to be watching TV and heard a Preacher talk about Isaiah 61:1-3 that says, to paraphrase, “Go help my people, turn them into oaks of righteous, give them hope.” I heard God say, “Daria go help my people, turn their ashes to gladness, give them the hope they need.” That’s the day I became an Ashes to Gladness Coach! I know this is what I was called to do, everything since that day has lined up for me to fulfill my purpose. All praise and glory go to God, I’m just doing what I was sent here to do.
So, how do you figure out your Purpose. Well, I once heard Iyanla Vanzant say that your purpose is that thing you would do whether you got paid for it or not. You love it so much you would do it for free. I have since learned that your purpose is something you have always done, probably since childhood. You just take it for granted, maybe you’re a good listener, writer, or artist. Maybe you love science and are fascinated by how things work or how things are made. It’s as much a part of you as your arm or leg.
So, what is your purpose?
What has God asked you to do to fulfill His Kingdom here on earth? What do you do that you are completely good at without even thinking about it? It comes as naturally as breathing. Think about it, talk to God about it and as usual, if you need help contact me. It’s what I do, it’s why I’m here, it’s my purpose!
